God Speaks of Healing

June 30, 2015 - India

How funny it seems to us the way in which God speaks to His children. He speaks to all of us in different ways, yet often He speaks the same things to us. As each of the members of the team prepared for the trip in a multitude of ways, God gave us images, words, verses, visions, and more.

As I walked onto a team full of strangers, I was unsure of how we would connect, if we would get along, and even if I’d make friends. New faces and new personalities are always an adventure in and of themselves. Yet one thing that sticks out in my mind from orientation is the unity this team felt because of the way God has been speaking to us for weeks and months before this trip.

Here’s a story to give you a small glimpse of what this looked like:

For the whole year prior to this trip the Lord had been speaking to me about healing in all senses of the word – physical, emotional, and spiritual. I personally had been healed in so many ways by God. Not long after meeting a few of my teammates I came to realize that God had been speaking about healing to many for this trip. In fact, it was at the airport in Bangkok that Alyssa told me the Lord had put healing on her heart through multiple verses. Then, at breakfast the next morning over rambutans and bananas, Emily spoke of images and words God had given her on healing. Esther spoke of passages God had given her on healing, and Kenzie spoke of feelings God had given her on Him being in the business of healing on this trip.

It seems to me that this team was God-ordained. I praise God for the way he brought us all together. We are so blessed by our co-directors Janell and Chelsea who so willingly submitted to God’s plan. And I am so blessed by the diverse group of people and personalities that surround me. I see God’s beauty in each and every one of them.

I am so overwhelmed by the way in which Holy Spirit is moving on this team. He is uniting us through Him and giving us vision for this trip through Him. As we walk into India, we come knowing that God is already very much present in this place and His light is shining whether we are here or not. We are simply along for the beautiful, messy, and adventure-filled ride that is following Jesus.

John 1:4-5:
In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not overcome it.
